The ProSteer SOLVES a 27 year old gaming input problem!

Xbox have recognised this. Will you take advantage of the opportunity?

The problem

Since the advent of 32 bit gaming (PS1 in 1994) there has been a control input shortfall in racing games. Modern racing games offer a complex and authentic experience that simply cannot be fully enjoyed with a gamepad using a (22 degree) thumbstick to steer.

This fact is well understood by the industry and there are many full racing wheel & pedal manufacturers that offer quality options. The problem is these racing wheel setups have an entry level cost of approximately 2 times the cost of a console and a physical footprint that makes them prohibitive in most living situations. Because of this, racing software makers report that greater than 85% of their users are still labouring with a standard gamepad. So, nearly 9 out of 10 modern racers are still seeking an affordable, effective, compact steering input for their racing.

“The unique value proposition is pretty apparent within a few turns”

The Solution Is Handheld

Major manufacturers acknowledged this problem, as do gamers. It is well understood that the market is ready for a handheld steering solution so there have been several products developed to solve the problem. All but one of these products have failed as they all have one thing in common, they all use motion sensor or accelerometer technology to track the movement of the handheld unit and translate this into in-game steering.

Unfortunately this creates loose, non tactile steering which does not provide the touch, control or feedback required for complex racing games. The Wii remote is the one exception as the Wii has simple “arcade” style racing games. Xbox, PlayStation, Namco and Hyperkin have all tried and failed.

“...I think you have an innovative product
and I know you are passionate.”

Why is ProSteer a game changer?

The ProSteer does not use motion sensor or accelerometer tech, instead the team at Boxdark Industries have developed and patented the boxed arc - a purely mechanical system which simulates a virtual central axel point – the key to analog handheld steering.

With 80 degrees of turn, centralising torque and force feedback the ProSteer is the worlds first handheld analog steering input. Extensive test driving shows that the ProSteer provides true steering control that is smooth, responsive and fast. Also driver satisfaction is very high as the ProSteer is intuitive and fun to use allowing racers to be precise ‘hugging the apex’ or alternatively throw the car around and stunt or drift.

“...we think (the ProSteer) will add real value to our users, as such we would welcome it onto our platform.”

Validation

ProSteer has been tested by the Xbox third party hardware team and Turn10 Studios (makers of the Forza game series). Both have acknowledged the ProSteer as an innovative steering control that has a unique value proposition.

Boxdark has since signed a development agreement with Xbox to bring the ProSteer onto the Xbox platform. Our Xbox consumer product is planned to be available in the first quarter of 2024.
